There is no silver bullet for lower gas prices or energy independence. Drilling has to be part of the answer, but we cannot drill our way out of the problem. We must come together to finally develop a long overdue comprehensive energy policy that attacks our problems from all angles. This includes expanding our domestic energy sources, investing in renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar and biofuels, and encouraging energy conservation.

The House passed a comprehensive energy bill in September, with my support, to increase our domestic energy supply in an environmentally responsible way, expand investments in renewable and alternative energies, ease the financial burden on consumers and strengthen our economy by spurring American innovation and job growth. With leadership from the White House, a bipartisan effort in Congress and the support of the American people, our nation can move forward into a new energy future.
